WE MISSED WINTER ??

Lovely afternoon with river running more and more, two guys from White Mountain made it 6 miles from Council and had to turn around. Just not winter and snowmachine country yet. Temp still in 30's and rain today, not the winter we had imagined so far.

Couldn't get a picture to down load today maybe because of the high winds we are having??? We are having a heat wave 33 degrees with no snow almost rain.........Storm warning until 9 tonight so will stay inside and put another log in the fire. Doug put up a 75/80 meter antenna (long wire 114 feet long and 30 feet high) last week, works like a charm talked all around Alaska , California, Washington State last night. Any HAMS interested its 3.933 at 9:00 Alaska time, its not a Net but a group of HAMS that meet nightly to make contacts, share stories and discuss techinical items. The Name is THE MOTLEY GROUP. Doug just came in from splitting wood so will get him some hot soup.

MADE IT HOME

Getting back home to Council after a week in Anchorage is not the usual way. First you hitch a ride to as far as the road is open, today it was East Fork Bridge around 45 -46 miles from Nome. There we met Doug and Mike who snowmachined from Council with my machine on a go-devil, after I put on snow suit, winter boots, fir hat we hit the road for home. It was a beautiful day in the 20's and hardly any wind. Some creeks are still running but most frozen. So after 30 miles on the machine and all the fresh air we are hitting the sack early.
